Trip Highlights - Attraction in Chengde involved: The Temple of Potaraka Doctrine in Chengde, Chengde Summer Resort. Chengde, once called Rehe (Hot River) or Jehol, is located about 250 kilometers northeast of Beijing, always taken as one destination for those who take a side travel from Beijing. Chengde boasts not only the grandeur of its surrounding mountains, but also the distinctive charm of refurnished artifacts. Recently, Chengde has been attracting more and more vistors, especially from Beijing, because of its hotsprings. Accordingly, we kindly provide a 1-day Chengde tour as below.

Tour Itinerary: (Lunch)
First, we will pick you up from your hotel and drive a few hours northeast to the old resort city of Chengde. After having lunch, you will tour the Temple of Potaraka Doctrine, built in 1767 and modeled after the Potala Monastery in Lhasa. It is the largest temple of the Eight Outer Temples in Chengde City. The temple served more functions than just Buddhist ceremonies and festivals. It was also the location that the emperor would gather meetings of different ethnic envoys found throughout the empire. After touring the temple you will visit the Summer Resort, built between 1703 and 1792. This resort was the second political center of the Qing Imperial Court. Afterwards, our tour guide will take you back to your hotel in Chengde. (Service End)
