Today, you will visit Shigatse City, the second largest city in Tibet. You will first visit the Tashilhunpo Monastery, one of the six largest in Tibet. Next, you visit the New Palace of Panchan, built in 1447 by the Panchen Lama. Afterwards, you will be driven back to Lhasa.

Attraction Description
Tashilhunpo Monastery, literally known as "Auspicious Sumeru Temple", is the largest temple in the town of Shigatse. The Tashilumpo Monastery is the traditional seat of successive Panchen Lamas, and the second highest ranking tulku lineage in the Gelug Tibetan Buddhism hierarchy after Dalai Lama. New Palace of Panchan stands south to the Tashihunpo Monastery, built by the Tenth Panchen Lama in 1954 as summer retreat. This magnificent palace houses many cultural relics and art treasure. Shigatse is not only well-known for the abode of Panchen Lama...
