You will spend a full day tour of Tongli to enjoy the beautiful local scenery and the rivers. Tongli features three bridges: Taiping Bridge, Jili Bridge and Changqing Bridge. The bridges play an important part in wedding ceremony, while bride and groom will carry a sedan chair and walk across the three bridges in Chinese drum music, symbolizing that they would be happily married for a lifetime. Lunch will be arranged in the local family restaurants where you can have a true feeling of the local life. Then, you will enjoy a tranquil cruise in Chinese gondolas. Attraction Description
Tongli Water Town is located by Lake Taihu and the Grand Canal, 80 kilometres west of Shanghai and 18 kilometres east of Suzhou. Tongli is over 1000 years old and has only recently been changed into a tourist attraction. the town is characterized by stone bridges and well preserved ancient architecture including private gardens, temples and houses. Bridges are important parts of the town.
