Attraction Description:
Millennium City Park located on the west bank of Dragon Pavilion Lake is a grand cultural garden. The built area consists of several architectural complexes which are re-creations based on the famous twelfth century painting by Zhang Zeduan of 'The Qingming Festival by the Riverside'. The scenes in this painting are highly detailed and the spectacle is magnificent. The picture is like a live symphony of life during the Song Dynasty (960-1279).
Memorial Temple of Lord Bao The current Memorial Temple of Lord Bao is situated on the west bank of a beautiful lake named Lord Bao Lake. Reconstructed on its original site, it is designed in the architectural style and colored patterns of the Northern Song Dynasty. Dadian Palace contains a sitting figure of Lord Bao in the center. This figure, over three meters (approximately 10 feet) tall, wears official robes and solemnly sits up straight in his chair. On the figure's two sides some calixes, bowls, wooden buckets, an ink slab, and some other artifacts are displayed, which were unearthed from Lord Bao's tomb.
Iron Pagoda Located in the Iron Pagoda Park, northeast corner of Kaifeng City, the Kaifeng Iron Pagoda was built in the first year during the reign of Huangyou (1049A.D.) in the Northern Song Dynasty with nearly a thousand years' history from now. It is also called Kaibao Temple Pagoda due to its location. With the brown glazed tiles adopted all over the building resembling the appearance of iron pillars, the folks have called it "iron pagoda" ever since the Yuan Dynasty. It is elaborately designed in traditional Chinese wooden structure. The tiles are skillfully arranged and tightly built.
