As the name shows, Wangfujing Snack Street is located in the Wangfujing Pedestrian Street. The Wangfujing Street is named after a well in front of the Foreign Language Bookstore. The well was dug during the Ming Dynasty, and called Wangfujing which means the well of residence.
Wangfujing Snack Street is located behind Beijing Hotel in the Wangfujing Shopping Street. It serves all kinds of weird snacks. The entrance of Wangfujing Snack Street is a big archway designed in traditional Chinese style with dragons and bearing six golden Chinese characters which tell the name of the street. The whole area covers more than 2,000 square meters in a Ming and Qing Dynasty style. When you walk into this street, you will feel like walking the the past with gray tiles and walls.
Most vendors can speak a little English, and other foreign languages as there are visitors from all over the world. The snacks are served as take-away only, you can either eat there and then, or ask for a bag to take it home. There are all kinds of snacks, Beijing local traditional snack or some other weird snack that may shock you which are worthy of trying.
Stincky Toufu and Tanghulu are the most typical snacks in that street. The materials of some other snacks include seahorse, starfish, scorpions, silkwarm, snake, and many other different things that you never considered as food.
It won't cost much, so have an experience there is good.
