Among the nearby cities around Beijing, the trip to Chengde is convenient and worth your visiting. As the transport hub of China, it is quick and easy for you to combine Chengde into your Beijing tour. Chengde is about 250 km away from Beijing. The newly completed Jingcheng Expressway has greatly shortened the drive time between the two cities to 3 hours. There is also one round trip train available daily in time.

Tour Itinerary:  (Lunch)
You will be picked up from your hotel and driven to Chengde in the morning. After around 4 hours drive, you will arrive at the city of Chengde. After lunch, you will be arranged to visit Temple of Potaraka Doctrine(also called Little Potala Palace), built in 1767 and modeled after the Potala Monastery in Lhasa. Then, you will visit the Mountain Summer Resort, built between 1703 and 1792. This resort was the second political center of the Qing Imperial Court. Emperors and royal family members moved here to stay for a period in summer. And then, you will return to your hotel in Beijing.

I’m interested in your One Day Beijing Chengde Tour. However, I checked that Chengde is 230km away from Beijing. Will one day making a round trip a little tight? Can we take train to Chengde from Beijing? We are a group of three. Waiting for your reply.

I can understand your considering, because there are mainly mountain roads from Beijing to Chengde. Thanks for the newly-opened highway, driving from Beijing to Chengde only costs two and a half hours. So, you don’t have to worry about the time. You can take a train to Chengde. But the train time is set, not flexible. Regularly, we don’t choose this way.
