Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway is a high-speed railway between Beijing and Tianjin. The railway construction began in 2005 and put into service on Aug. 01st, 2008. The train named CRH runs between Beijing South Station and Tianjin Station with a top speed of 350 km/h, which means the distance between the two cities is only less than 30 minutes. The intercity train number is prefixed with the capital letter "C" followed with 4 numbers from C2001 to C2298. Of these train numbers, C2001-C2198 are for the trains running between Beijing South and Tianjin without stopping. The odd numbers for the trains running from Beijing South to Tianjin and the even numbers for those running towards Beijing South. C2201-C2268 are for the trains from Beijing South to Tianjin with stops at Wuqing and Yizhuang Stations on the way. And trains C2271-C2298 are the trains from Beijing South to Tanggu.

For the ticket of the intercity railways, the fares are higher than the former Beijing Tianjin ticket fares: first class ticket costs RMB69 while second class costs RMB58. Tickets on commuter trains can be bought at the station before departure. The most convenient way to grab some tickets is through a travel agent or you hotel concierge. Since the intercity train has been running soundly and efficiently since its debut on Aug. 01st 2008, the line has turned out to be the first choice for the guests travellilng between the two cities. Over the past year, the railway has transported more than 18 million passengers, with the 98% punctuality rate. Its safty standards, high speed and confortable seats have won high reputation and brought social and economic benefits to the cities. And the Ministry of Railways officials said the railway attributes a huge surge to the tourism of Beijing and its neighbouring city Tianjin.
