China and Canada established the diplomatic relations on 13rd, October, 1970. Under the efforts of the two governments and peoples, the bilateral relationship has developed sound and significantly. The two-way high-level visits happened dozens of times in the past 39 years. Since 1950s, there had been no governmental trade between China and Canada. Formal trade relations between the two countries started in 1961. in recents years, the bilateral economic and trade relations have been developing rapidly, as well as educational and health exchange and cooperation. In November 1999, China and Canada signed the bilateral agreement on China's accession to WTO.
