Comoros, officially the Federal and Islamic Republic of the Comoros, is an island nation in the Indian Ocean, located off the eastern coast of Africa, on the northern end of the Mozambique Channel, between northern Madagascar and northeastern Mozambique. The nearest countries to the Comoros are Mozambique, Tanzania, Madagascar, and the Seychelles. The country officially consists of the four islands in the volcanic Comoros archipelago: Ngazidja, Mwali, Nzwani, and Mahoré, as well as many smaller islands. Comorian, the most widely used language on the Comoros, is one of the three official languages of the Comoros, next to French and Arabic. China established the diplomatic relations with Comoros in 1975.
