Cuba is the first country established diplomatic relations with China among Latin American countries. On September 2, 1960, Cuba stop the diplomatic relations with Taiwan, and establish the diplomatic relations with People's Republic of China. The two countries signed the Joint communique on September 28, 1960. Cube is located on the northwest of Caribbean Sea with the majority area being the plain and some hills in its northwest and central area. Sugarcane is the major agricultural product. In 1990, Cube has be the second largest trading partner of China in Latin America. However, in 1990s, the output of sugar declined, affecting the bilateral trade volume. Recent years, it gets better.
