East Timor Embassies and Consulates

East Timor, also known as Timor-Leste ,officially the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, is a country in Southeast Asia. The small country is located about 640 km northwest of Darwin, Australia. Its capital is Dili. The head of state of East Timor is the President of East Timor, who is elected by popular vote for a five-year term. Because of the wars with Indonesian troops in late 1999, East Timor's economy was largely destroyed, and there are a number of refugees at this country. It has a total area of 14,874 km² with a population of about 1.14 milion (2009 estimate). It developed diplomatic relation with China in May 2002. The national day is November 28th.
