Gabon is located on the Atlantic coast of central Africa. Located on the equator, Gabon has an equatorial climate with an extensive system of rainforests covering 85% of the country. Gabon is more prosperous than most nearby countries, in large part due to offshore oil production. In 1960, the Gabon ever established "diplomatic relations" with the Taiwan Authority and "severed the relations" after the establishment of the diplomatic ties with the People's Republic of China in 1974. Since then the relations between the two countries China and Gabon have enjoyed a steady development with sincere and friendly cooperation carried out in many aspects.
