Iceland Embassies and Consulates

The Republic of Iceland is a European island country located in the North Atlantic Ocean. It has a population of about 320,000 and a total area of 103,000 km². Its capital and largest city is Reykjavík, whose surrounding area is home to some two-thirds of the national population. Warmed by the Gulf Stream, Iceland has a temperate climate relative to its latitude and provides a habitable environment and nature. Iceland is a representative democracy and a parliamentary republic. Icelandic culture has its roots in Norse traditions. Iceland ranks first on the Human Development Index, and was recently ranked the fourth happiest country in the world. It developed diplomatic relation with China on December 8,1971. The national day is June 17th.
