The Republic of Indonesia, is a country in Southeast Asia and Oceania. Indonesia comprises 17,508 islands. With an area of 1,919,440 km² and the population of around 230 million people, it is the world's fourth most populous country, with the world's largest population of Muslims. Indonesia is a republic, with an elected legislature and president. It is the largest economy in Southeast Asia and also a member of the G-20 major economies. The country has around 300 ethnic groups, each with cultural differences developed over centuries, and influenced by Indian, Arabic, Chinese, Malay, and European sources. The capital city is Jakarta. It developed diplomatic relation with China on April 13, 1950. The national day is Augest 17th.
