Iran, officially the Islamic Republic of Iran, is a country in Western Asia. The 18th largest country in the world in terms of area at 1,648,195 km², Iran has a population of over 70 million. The capital city is Tehran. The political system of the Islamic Republic is based on the 1979 Constitution. The Supreme Leader is Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, controls the military intelligence and security operations; and has sole power to declare war or peace. Iran's economy is a mixture of central planning, state ownership of oil and other large enterprises, village agriculture, and small-scale private trading and service ventures. The Culture of Iran is a mix of ancient pre-Islamic culture and Islamic culture. It developed diplomatic relation with China on Augest 16,1971 . The national day is Febrary 11th.
