Mauritius, officially the Republic of Mauritius, is an island nation off the coast of the African continent in the southwest Indian Ocean. The island of Mauritius is renowned for having been the only known home of the dodo. Its very name of conjures up images of tropical luxury and stupendous extravagance. Sugar cane is grown on about 90% of its cultivated land area and accounts for 25% of export earnings. Since the establishment of the diplomatic relations of China and Mauritius in 1972, the relationship between the two countries has seen a favorable and steady development. The two sides signed the agreement for economic and technological cooperation.
