Papua New Guinea Embassies and Consulates

PNG is the biggest Island country in South Pacific area. It is the only member of APEC and ARF in the South Pacific island countries. The trade relations between China and PNG began in the 1960s. Since 1976 when China and PNG established diplomatic relations, under the joint efforts of state leaders and peoples of the two countries, the bilateral relations went smoothly and stably. After Sir Mekere Morauta came into office in July, 1999, China and PNG have enjoyed closer and stronger relations, and the cooperation of economy and commerce has gained momentum. PNG now is the biggest and the most important trading partner of China among the South Pacific island nations.
