The Slovak Republic, short form Slovakia, is a landlocked country in Eastern Europe with a population of over 5 million and an area of about 49,000 square kilometres. Slovakia is a parliamentary democratic republic with a multi-party system. The art of Slovakia can be traced back to the Middle Ages, when some of the greatest masterpieces of the country's history were created.
