Switzerland, officially the Swiss Confederation, is a federal republic consisting of 26 cantons, with Bern as the seat of the federal authorities. The country is situated in Western Europe. Switzerland is a landlocked country whose territory is geographically divided between the Alps, the Central Plateau and the Jura; adding together an area of 41,285 km² with a population of about 7.7 million(2009). Switzerland is a "permanent neutral country," pursued an active policy of neutralityIt. The country has a rich culture in literature, music, art, architecture and so on. Switzerland developed diplomatic relation with China on September 14, 1950. The national day of Switzerland is Augest 1st.
