12-Day Essential Shanxi Tour

Itinerary (B: Breakfast, L: Lunch, D: Dinner)

Day 01: Arrive in Beijing
Arrive in Beijing, your guide will pick you up from the airport, then transfer to your hotel to check in.
Day 02: Beijing (B/L/D)
Today you will visit Tiananmen Square and theForbidden City, the largest and most intact structures of the imperial palace. After lunch, visit the Summer Palace. In the evening you will attend a famous Chinese Acrobatic Show.
Day 03: Beijing (B/L/D)
The highlight of today's tour is a trip to the Great Wall of China, the only man-made structure on Earth that can be observed from the moon. After lunch, you will visit the Ming Tombs, the burial site for 13 of the Ming emperors. For dinner, you will enjoy the famous Peking Roast Duck.

Day 04: Beijing / Datong (B/L/D)
You will visit the Temple of Heaven in the morning. Then tour Hutong by tricycle in the afternoon. After dinner, you will take a night soft berth train to Datong.

Day 05: Datong (B/L/D)
Arrive in Datong in the early morning; your tour guide will meet you at the exit of your train carriage. Full day tour of the Yungang Grotto, Nine Dragon Wall and Huayan Temple. Be transferred back to your hotel after the whole day tour.
Day 06: Datong / Mt. Wutai (B/L/D)
Morning take a bus to Wutai Mountain. Visit Hanging Monastery and the Wood Pagoda at Ying County on the way. Stay in Wutai Mountain for overnight.

Day 07: Mt. Wutai (B/L/D)
A full day to explore the Wutai Mountain Scenic Area. Wutai Mountain, also called Five-terrace Mountain, is one of China's sacred Buddhist mountain areas.

Day 08: Mt. Wutai / Taiyuan (B/L/D)
Morning drive toTaiyuan, visit the Jinci Temple---the most famous of all the historical relics in the city and Twin Pagoda Temple in the afternoon.
Day 09: Taiyuan / Pingyao (B/L/D)
Morning excursion to Pingyao by coach (2-hour drive), a well-preserved ancient city listed by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage in 1997. Visit the Shuanglin Temple, City Wall and Ri Sheng Chang Exchange Shop. After lunch, visit Ming-Qing Street and Courtyard Residence.

Day 10: Pingyao / Taiyuan / Shanghai (B/L/D)
Return to Taiyuan in the morning, transfer to airport to catch your flight to Shanghai. Upon your arrival, your guide will pick you up from the airport and take you to visit the Oriental Pearl TV Tower.

Day 11: Shanghai (B/L/D)
Today's excursion takes you to Nanjing Road,the Bund, the Yu Garden, and the well-known Temple of City Patron.
Day 12: Depart from Shanghai (B)
Today will be free for you to explore this city on your own. Later in the day you will be brought to the airport to take a flight to your next destination.
