-Travel to North East of China

Northeast China shares borders with North Korea, Russia, and Inner Mongolia and lies beyond the Great Wall of China. It consists three provinces of Heilongjiang, Jilin, and Liaoning. Northeast China is known by westerners most problely from the name Manchuria, or from the Oscar Movie – The Last Emperor. In the 1930s, Japanese set up a puppet state called Manchukuo under Puyi, the last emperor. China regained control of the region in 1945 when Japan lost the second World War. Now, the Northeast region is become popular as a good travel destination for Skiing. This area has built up its travel industry of a combination of ski resorts and historical sites.

Northeast China is China's heavy industry base dating back to the 1930s. Many heavy industry facilities were built here. Daqing Oilfield and Liaoning Anshan Iron and Steel Plant are the most well-known among the large companies in that area. Being possessing China's largest natural forested area, Northeast China features kilometer after kilometer of pristine grassland and lakes and has many well-preserved areas. Northeast China is also an ideal winter travel and ski destination. Its freezing cold weather has resulted in some of the finest ski resorts in China.

Below is a guide to the main cities in Northeast China. Harbin (the Heilongjiang capital) is home to many good Ski Resorts, of which Yabuli is China's best ski resort featuring a long ski season and slopes, good snow, and a decent amount of facilities; Changchun (the Jilin capital) is appealing to travel with the Puppet Emperor's Palace for those who are interested in the history of that period; Shengyang (the Liaoning capital), is easier traveling than the other cities in Northeast China for being connected with Beijing by high speed rail and expressways. The southern coastal city of Dalian in Liaoning is also pretty major.
