I will be in Wuhan next month and would like to travel along the Yangtze to see the Three Gorges Dam. But all the cruises seem to go for at least 3 days and are rather expensive. Plus, I like independent travel and don’t want to be stuck on a boat for this long. Any ideas?

All cruises along the Three Gorges would take that long. If you main interest is in the Three Gorges, you could take a flight from Wuhan to Yichang and then do a half day travel to the Dam. Or you could take a bus (about 4-4.5 hours) from Wuhan to Yichang.
