Taian is located in the center of Shandong Province, at the south foot of Mt. Tai, and adjoins Jinan to the north, Qufu to the south. The city enjoys monsoon climate and has four distinct seasons: to be windy and dry in spring; hot and rainy in summer; cool in fall and cold in winter. The transportation of Tai’an is well-developed with convenient railway and road transportation and emerging air transportation. That allows visitors to Taian to enjoy an easy travel access to this city. Taian is a sleepy forgettable town by itself, but is well known in China for Mt.Tai.

Taian is a cradle of Chinese civilization. Human beings appeared here as early as 500,000 years ago and the splendid Dawenkou Culture occurred here more than 5,000 years ago has become an important milestone in Chinese civilization. Taian has a long history and a brilliant culture. The founding emperor of the Qin Dynasty performed sacrificial rites at Mt.Tai in the 3rd century BC, after which Mt.Tai was frequently visited by succeeding emperors. Taian served as the gateway and stopover to the Mt.Tai. Still cherished after thousands of years, Mt. Tai makes Taian an essential stop for travellers.

Mt.Tai is the key famous scenic spot of China and the natural cultural legacy of the world. It has beautiful natural sights, collects historic and cultural sites. In 1987, Mt. Tai was listed as the cultural and natural relic of the world by the UNESCO. Taishan Mountain International Climbing Festival is held every year in early September, during the opening ceremony, sports competition, business trade activities and cultural activities will be on stage. There are two popular ascent routes on the mountain, taking in different vistas at varying levels of difficulty. Even the easiest return routes take several hours to complete.
