Tianzishan is situated in the northeast of Wulingyuan, covering an area of almost 100 sq km. (25 thousand acres). Historically, it is said that a leader of the Miao people used to call himself 'Tianzi' (Son of Heaven) in the mountain, hence the name. Reputed as ‘King of Hills and Forests,' the mountain vaunts its many large and high hills, of which Yubi Peak is most well-known. It has an area of about 60 square kilometers with an average temperature of 12, an annual waterfall of 1800 mm and a frozen period of about 80 days. The majority of its attractions is comprised of quart stones with sandstone feature the same as Suoxiyu Valley and Zhangjiajie.

The mountians have primeval forests and beautiful water. Also their local plain folkways, special customs and local specialities are attractive to tourists fro home and abroad. People often say that if people who have climbed Tianzi Mountain will have no desire to climb any other mountains" and "It is said that you haven't been to Wulingyuan if you don't climb Tianzi Mountain".A saying about Mt. Cloud and mist in the Mountain enjoys high reputation nationwide, especially just after the rain, which adds much charm to Mt. Tianzishan. Clouds and mists are the most common and wonderful sights here. It also has the largest bronze statue in China, the Statue of Marshal He Long.Mt. Tianzishan Reserve encompasses an area of 67 square kilometers and rises 1262 meters above sea level. Several tourist routes have been gradually developed along the summit, including Huanglong Spring, Fengxi Mountain, Laowuchang, Chapan Tower among other. They are embellished by over 100 graceful scenic wonders.
