The Terracotta Army, also known as Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses, refers to the accessary funeral objets of the First Emperor Qin. The Terra-Cotta Warriors were found accidently by some local farmers when they were digging wells near the Mausouleum of the First Qin Emperor in 1974. The Terracotta Army not only consists of strong warriors but also other elements as in a real ancient army should have had in the ancient time, such as chariots, horses, officials, acrobats, strongmen, and musicians. According to their title in the army, the Terra Cotta Warriors were shaped with the height raning from

1.78 meters to almost 2 meters, with the tallest being generals. The layouts of the army are very important in terms of how the military units work in battle formations in ancient China. The Terra-Cotta Warriors were all made of pottery by hand painted and the bodies were made separately from the rest of the soldiers and all the pieces then joined together. Most of the sodiers carry bronze weapons which are still shining and in good situation. Although several chambers have been uncovered, the official entrance has yet to be found. Besides the Great Wall, the Terra-Cotta Warriors are the most important

relics for tourists to see in China. Currently in the three pits containing the Terracotta Army there are approximately over 8,000 sodiers, 130 chariots with 520 horses and 150 cavalry horses, among which the No. 1 pit is best preserved and most magnificent. The Terra Cotta Warriors are regarded as one of the Great Miracles in the World and definetely the top attraction in China, together with the Great Wall. Is it easy to get a taxi to reach Terra Cotta Warriors or it's better to book a tour via travel agency? I read in one of our guide books that the Terra Cotta Warriors Museum is going to raise the entrance fees. Does anyone know if this is true?
