The Nanjing Road Guide

Nanjing Road is a premier shopping street in Shanghai and also the most famous shopping district in the world. Nanjing Road is located in the city center, running in a west-east direction in Huangpu District. According to the travel guide, the original Nanjing Road was refers to the road before 1945, which is as long as 5 kilometers, starting from the Bund in the east and passing through the city center before ending in the west at the junction of the Jing'an Temple and Yan'an West Street. The present Nanjing Road only refers to the Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, which was built in 2000, starting from

 Henanzhonglu on the east and ending at Xizhangzhonglu on the west. It is about 1.2 kilometers long and the widest section is about 28 meters. Nanjing Road is decorated with neo-classical buildings and it has been a centre of commerce in Shanghai for more than a century.
