Taiqing Palace Guide

-Travel to Taiqing Palace

Taiqing Palace is the oldest, largest and best temple on Laoshan. It is also a famous Taoist temple of the Longmen Sub-Sect of the Quanzhen Sect. The Taiqing Palace covers an area of 30,000 square meters with 155 rooms and halls inside. The major constructions consist of Sanqing Hall ( Taoist Trinity Hall ), Sanhuang Hall ( Three Emperors Hall ), Sanguan Hall ( Hall of Three Gods ) and Sipei Hall. Though Taiqing Palace has been through many reconstructions during many dynasties in over two thousand years, the architectures still remain the typical

Song Dynasty style, which is quite rare among the religious buildings in China. The Taiqing Palace is the earliest representative of a large branch of the ancient Chinese gardening style, temple garden style, in Laoshan area. The palace was built around 1,000 years ago during the reign of the first emperor of the Northern Song Dynasty and was completely renovated during the Ming Dynasty, around 500 years later. The Taiqing Palace possesses a great number of historical relics, especially epigraphs left by ancient celebrities. One of the best sites to see is the clear blue pool in front of Taoist Trinity Hall, which is named Shengshui Spring and is believed to never dry up.  Nearby the pool there is a giant stone located in the palace with four Chinese words engraved in large characters, Bo Hai Can Tian, meaning 'the waves reach to the sky'. The stone walls outside the Sanhuang Hall were engraved with the imperial decree issued by the first emperor of Yuan Dynasty Kublai Khan who was the grandson of Genghis Khan who was an outstanding Mongolian politician and militarist who found the Mongol Empire.
