Shanghai Waigaoqiao Port Cruise Terminal Guide

-Travel to Shanghai Waigaoqiao Port Cruise Terminal

Shanghai Waigaoqiao Port is part of Shanghai Port and is operated by Shanghai Port Group. It is located at Waigaoqiao in Pudong New Area in Shanghai. Waigaoqiao Port lies about 7 km east to Wu Song Port, 30km from downtown Shanghai, and 85km west to the estuary of Yangtze River.
So ships larger than 87,000 tons will not get to the sparkling new terminal ( Shanghai Port International Cruise Terminal), due to the low bridge on Huangpu River, and will have to berth at the scenic and relaxing terminal in Waigaoqiao, which, in rush hour, can be close to an hour’s bus ride from the Hongkou terminal. At best, Shanghai Waigaoqiao can handle four cruise ships at any one time. More than 100 international cruise ships are expected to stop by Shanghai every year.

How to get to city center from the Shanghai port? is it easy to take a taxi there? we are on the Diamond Princess cruise now...

Name:Re: Shanghai Waigaoqiao Port Cruise Terminal

The Diamond Princess will dock at Shanghai Haitong port near Waigaoqiao area. This is a tariff-free zone. Public vehicles are not allowed to enter this area unless they get a PASS from relevant local authority. So taxis are not available nearby the pier. Anyway, I know Diamond Princess provides passengers shuttle bus transfer from the pier to city center. You can check with your cruise about this.

Will arrive in Shanghai on Feb and have booked the shuttle bus service from Diamond Princess. do you know where it will stop at? how far is it from the port to there? thanks

The shuttle bus operated by Diamond Princess when it calls at Shanghai will stop at Shanghai Waima Wharf Silk Museum. Its address is NO.1029, South Zhongshan Road, Huangpu District. From our experience, it'll take about 40mins with a distance of 30km to get the silk museum from the port.
