-Travel to Yellow Mountain

As the old saying gose: "No need to see any other mountains after Yellow Mountain!", there’s no reason for that you leave this magnificent spot out of your travel list of China. Standing straight among the mountains in south of Anhui Province, the Yellow Mountain is well-known all over the world for its four scenic spots - pine forrest, strange stone, cloud sea and hot spring. It is undoubtedly China's most celebrated mountain for all its grandeur and beauty, now on the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List. Within an area of 154 square kilometres, it has 72 peaks with the names indicating the shapes they resemble.

The hot springs, some waterfalls and low level scenic walks can be found 40 minutes walk in from the main entrance. The Yellow Mountain is one of the best places to sunrise and clound viewing in the whole China. If you plan to do the sunrise watching, you need to start climbing from midnight or even earlier. From September to May is the best season for cloud viewing, especially on a clear day after rain or snow. Travellers should choose their viewing location points to get the best experience. Another most beautiful scenery - strange peak and stone is the outstanding work left by the natural sculptor.

From ancient times Yellow Mountain has been frequented by travellers seeking their mystery and admiring their scenery. Lotus, Brightness Apex and Celestial Capital are the three major ones, all above 1,800 meters. "One Line Sky", "three island in Penglai", "the greeting pines", "immortal playing chess" are the famous travel spots in this mountain. The Yellow Mountain occupies an important place in China's botanical research, because there are more than 1500 species of plants, of which trees comprise one third. You can also visit some small villages nearby where the unique local traditional Hui style houses are relatively well preserved.

Hi! I'm thinking of going to Yellow Mountain(Huangshan) this coming mid autumn festival. I live in shanghai. Is it safe to travel for a female as a solo traveller? Thanks.

Yellow Mountain is a popular travel destination, full of people. So it is safe enough to travel by yourself. But I would never recommend going to such a popular spot during a Chinese public holiday. You may suffer a travel surge: horrendous amounts of crowds, plus grossly inflated accommodation prices.
