Fei Lai Feng, located directly across the Lingyin Temple, is really a must-see Hangzhou attraction. The Fei Lai Feng got its name during the Eastern Jin Dynasty (317-420) in 326 when a Buddhist from India and claimed that Fei Lai Feng is the same as one back home in India and asked when the hill flew to Hangzhou. What is unique about Fei Lai Feng is that it is smaller than those around it and has rocks and caves different from those around it: it has limestone instead of sandstone rocks like the other hills. It is almost as if, it did fly there from elsewhere. There is one large cave in the Fei Lai Feng that can hold several hundred people and has a skylight due to ceiling erosion over the thousands of years. There are also 280 ancient stone statues from the 10th and 14th centuries (Five Dynasties, Song and Yuan dynasties). These statues are important representations of ancient sculpture style of the area.
