Built in 1958, Luoyang Museum is a local historical museum locating on the Nietai Road, Luolong District in Luoyang. With four display halls, and five exhibition rooms, the museum is spread over 20,000 square meters with two floors.

In order to demonstrate the stages of social structure evolution, the collections are arranged according to sequence of dynasties beginning with primitive society in the first floor, then following by slavery and feudalism societies. The museum offers the relics from the excavation sites on the outskirt of Luoyang. More than 1,000 exhibits are displayed in the museum.Luoyang Museum is world-famous for its large quantity of various kinds of relics. The museum projects the elephant fossils fifty years ago, Neolithic pottery article, bronze artifacts of Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties, colored pottery-made tomb figures of Han and Hui dynasties, and tri-colored glazed pottery of the Tang Dynasty. Among them, the the pottery-made tomb figures and tri-colored glazed pottery of the Tang Dynasty are considered to be of first grade.

Luoyang Museum is free of charge. But you still need a ticket to enter the museum. So how? Go to a ticket office on the right side of the museum. Just ask for a ticket which is only available for a particular day. After taking your ticket, go back to the enctrance at the middle of the building. Please remember the opening dates are from Tuesday to Sunday with Monday closed. Its opening time is from 9:00 to 17:00 and ticket selling stops at 16:30.
