From the location map of Fujian Province, you can easily see that it just lies towards Taiwan across the Taiwan Straits on the southeast coast of China. Due to its linguistic and ethical closeness to Taiwan, Fujian plays an important role in enhancing the relationship between the two sides of the strait. The capital city Fuzhou locates in the east of the province while Xiamen in the south.
