Shudu Lake Travel Guide: the lake is located northeast of Zhongdian, about 43 km from the city. It is one of the biggest lakes in Diqing Prefecture, about 3705 meters above the sea level. Now the lake is constructed into a high-land pasture resort, enjoying a very convenient transportation for traveling. There are dense forest of fir spruce and birch around the lake and lives different wild animals such as musk deer, bear, leopard, golden cat, deer, pheasant etc. The local guide told visitors that the best season to travel to Shudu Lake are spring and summer, when herds of

yak and goat grazing beside the lake the shepherd's shelters dots on the grassland, frequently. Staying beside the lake, with the sound of flute from afar, you can deeply feel the quiet and leisurely life of people here. When you travel here, the guide will show you the place for visitors to hike around, ride horses, watch wild fauna and flora in the primitive forest and fishing in the lake etc. You can chosed the items you like freely. Shudu Lake would be heavenly. Its deep-blue waters resonate a sense of calm and Zen. The entire place is very quiet, although there were many people around. Most visitors can't help but feel in awe with this piece of tranquil beauty. Visitors can choose to stay on night there in camping spot in summer time, or stay in the guesthouse nearby. The highway to Shudu Lake was again blessed with picturesque meadows and farms. You will have chance to see some local Tibetan houses up close. They are make of heavy timber and mud with intricate designs on the window, which shows the Tibetan architecture. Every house is big enough to accommodate up to 20 people.
