Shanghai Climate

The city of Shanghai is known for its long, hot and humid summer climate. The peak summer months (July and August) can be very hot with temperatures above 35°C (95°F) and 80 percent humidity. Tourists who visited Shanghai rarely see snow but occasionally experiences sub-zero temperatures. Shanghai's weather is heavily influenced by the monsoon and its coastal position, next to the East China Sea. The period from middle June to early July is called "plum rain season" which is named after the fruit that ripens with its arrival during this time. October which brings strong winds, heavy rains and storm surges at the same time. These periods are best avoided by the travelers but should you decide to visit be sure to bring an umbrella. On the other side, spring and autumn are much more pleasant, definitely the ideal times to visit this exciting city. However, the temperature may drop greatly when night falls, so please prepare some warm clothes if you want to enjoy the night view of Shanghai. Warm, heavy clothes are the best in winter. As to summer, besides light clothes, an umbrella should always be equipped in case of rain.
