Guangzhou Climate

Guangzhou is situated in a subtropical monsoon climate zone, characterized by warm winters, hot summers, little frost and snow, sufficient rain and sunshine. The high temperature haunts the city all the year round, with an average annual temperature of 21ºC. Fortunately, it is not burning hot in summer because a great deal of rain comes and repels the heat. The abundant rainfall here, making the scenery very lush and green. However, high humidity adds to the discomfort, and air-conditioning is essential for a good night's sleep on sweltering nights. Good thing about winter is the Official Flower of Guangzhou, the Kapok, comes into bloom all over the city, when fiery red blossoms erupt from hard leafless twigs, boosting the spirit of the people in the midst of the winter gloom. Autumn is the best time of year to visit and this season can last from May until November when it is cool and comfortable. As for clothing, shirt and T-shirt is suitable, but it is best for you with a coat.
