Zhongdian Climate

Zhongdian is about 3300 meters above the sea level and belongs to plateau humid climate. The weather of Zhongdian can be classified as "subtropical highland monsoon". The climate is not obviously different in four seasons but the temperature here changes much between day and night. The temperature can reach up to above 30 centigrade in the sunny day; however, during the morning and at night, people may feel cold just as in winter. So, whenever tourists make a trip to Shangri-la, they should bring overcoats with them. In the summer months (especially July-August) it rains almost every day. day! Autumn is the best season to visit Zhongdian and the scenery is the most beautiful, the temperature is about 5-30 centigrade. You can leave your summer clothes at home, but bring your warmest and waterproof clothes with you! Fleece jackets and long underwear are very useful in Zhongdian. A few stores in town sell outdoor clothing such as fleece jackets and Gore-Tex shells appropriate for the climate. In winter you will experience cold both outside and, frequently, inside dwellings. In winter all roads of Zhongdian were blocked by the heavy snowfall. So, we suggest you not come to Zhongdian in winter.
