Chunxi Road Walk Street Guide

As Wangfujing in Beijing, the most famous one is the well cover with literary quotation carved on the copper side. Every day, almost all the visitors here would take photo standing along the well to prove his worthy trip. However, at Chengdu, the most featured one is the group of copper embossing named “Chunxu Road Old Brand shufti”, which is deeply pouring out the historic culture and today’s prosperousness. Across from Chunxi Road, to the south, is Yanshikou, the actual hub of shopping for locals (mostly young girls) looking for bargain deals on clothing and accessories. To the north of Chunxi Road is the Holiday Inn Crown Plaza and Taisheng Lu, where everything related to cell phones can be had for a good price. To the east is Tianfu Plaza and the famous Mao Statue.

Located at the center of Chengdu, Chunxi Road is a prosperous commercial street with a long history. As a saying goes, if you do not visit Chunxi Road when traveling in Chengdu, that would be a pity just like going to Paris without visiting avenue des champs-elyses, Beijing without Wangfujing, or Shanghai without visiting Nanjing Road. Not only the fashion center of Chengdu, Chunxi Road is also the gathering center of local flavor snacks. Here it is available the Zhongshui dumpling, Tangyuan (Glutinous Rice Balls), Pork Lungs in Chili Sauce, Wonton, as well as spicy barbecue on both sides of the street. All in all, shopping malls, boutiques, modern cafes, local flavors and Chengdu girls will leave you wonderful memory about Chengdu. Chunxi Road is the glitziest shopping district in Chengdu and, hosting a million people on summer weekends, definitely the most crowded.

Shopping here can be fun, but the best part of Chunxi Road is getting a bite to eat or some ice cream and people watching. Thousands of people crowd the lanes in between the small plazas around Chunxi Road and many are here to see and be seen as well. Champagne Plaza to the east of Chunxi Road is where a lot of hip hop and skater gear is sold and in the bottom floor of this plaza there is an arcade with basketball hoops and a drum set.
