Wolong Panda Reserves Guide

The Wolong Giant Panda Reserve Center, located in the east of Mt. Qionglai, about 3 hours drive from Chengdu, is one of only a few places in China that carries out research work on giant pandas breeding and bamboo ecology. It is a comprehensive state natural reserve with an area of 200,000 hectares. The World Wildlife Fund assisted in the foundation of the center in 1980 and since its construction, the research center has become a world leader in its field. In 1980, it was placed on UNESCO Man and Biosphere Reserve Network. This research center is also open to tourists.
