Haikou Climate

Haikou is located in an area that reaches from Zengmu Ansha in the south to the Qiongzhou Strait in the north, bordering the sea areas of the South China Sea and facing Vietnam in the west across Beibu Bay. Haikou is located in part of China's hot southern climate. This monsoon area receives very little rain in spring, but torrential downpours in the tropical heat of summer. Annual average temperature is about 25ºC, with an upper limit of around 29ºC in summer and a lower limit of about 18ºC in winter. Annual rainfall

 is around 1,500 mm. As a rule, the best time to travel is between November and the following April. From May to October Haikou has its rainy seasons, with the precipitation reaching a peak during September. As high temperatures warm the waters of the South China Sea from June to September tropical storms (hurricanes), known here as typhoons, are driven toward the coast. T-shirts and shorts would be good for your staying in Haikou. You may also prepare sunglasses, suncream as well as umbrella sometimes.
