Turpan Climate

Turpan is located in a depression with the area of more than 1000 square kilometers of the eastern part of Xinjiang and some 80 meters below the sea level. Turpan is a city in China with some of the most intense heat of anywhere in China. The annual high temperature is 50ºC, with the average about 30ºC. The ground-temperature can get as high as 82.3ºC. However, Turpan's climate is not as harsh as many people imagine it to be. The region is very dry and extremely hot during summer time while Autumn has comfortable daytime temperatures and cool nights. Although the temperature is high in the day time, you should take

 a long sleeved shirt as temperatures here vary greatly between day and night. As the temperature is very high in the summer, it is necessary for you to take a hat, sunglasses and suncream to avoid being burnt. You should not wear contact lenses due to the hot dry weather. The best time to visit Turpan is in Autumn.
