Crown Cave Guide

The Crown Cave Scenic Area, located in Caoping Town on the bank of the Li River, is only about 29 kilometers to the south of Guilin. The Crown Cave is a large scale of karst cave formed by an  ancient underground river, which is listed in the Guinness World Records. The cave got the famous name because of its upper crown-shaped hill which is very similar with the shape of an gold crown of ancient emperor. It also has other names to call: Guanyan Cave and Guangyan Cave. The Crown Cave is 12 kilometers long, but only the 3 kilometers close to the Li River has been developed and opened to the

public. It originates from the Sea Hill in the east of Guilin and joins into the Li River. It has always been attractive to various poets, scholars and nobles because of its crown-shape and it has become one of the most famous tourist spots of the Li River. Views inside are fantastic, stalactites and stalagmites in all manner of strangle shapes glittering in a golden glow illuminated by lights. The cave has been well preserved, with an underground stream running from Mt. Haiyang, through the cave and into the Li River. There are many modern facilities, such as: automatic lights and a sound control guide system, which

can intermingle with the natural stalagmites to create an enchanting and imposing atmosphere. Visiting the caves is easy, with many different ways: either taking a bus from Guilin or sailing down the Li River and making a stop at the Crown Cave Dock. Rafting down the river is a scenic way to explore the beauty of the Li River. In the Crown Cave Scenic Area, there are also many other entertainments besides the natural beauty.
