-Travel to The Elephant Trunk Hill

The Elephant Trunk Hill, Xiangbi Shan which is regarded as the symbol of Guilin landscape and one of the popular places to visit in Guilin, is situated majestically at the southeast of Guilin city and the west bank of Li River. With an elevation of 200 meters, the hill towers 55 meters above the water, measuring 108 meters in length and 100 meters in width. Originally named "Li Hill", "Yi Hill" and "Chenshui Hill", the hill has a history of 3.6 hundred million years. Resembling elephant leisurely sucking water from the river with its long trunk, this hill is renowned for its shape and name for hundreds of years. Between

the trunk and the legs of the elephant is a cave in the shape of a full moon, penetrating the hill from side to side and named "Water Moon Cave". The shape of the cave can be fluctuated depending on different water levels. When the waters wave and the moonlight gleams, the scene is exceedingly enchanting. The cave is 17 meters long, 9.5 meters wide and 12 meters high. On the walls in and around this cave, over 70 inscriptions from the Tang and Song Dynasties were found, praising the beauty of the hills and waters nearby. Halfway up the hill lays another cave, which goes through the hill and serves as the eyes

of the elephant, through which visitors can overlook the beautiful scene of Guilin. A pagoda towers on the top of the hill like a shape sword. The pagoda, Puxian Pagoda, was built in the Ming Dynasty which is related to Buddhism legend that Samantabhadra once cross the river on the elephant's back. There are also lots of similar legends among other nations in Asia, which all mean peace and happiness. The Elephant Trunk Hill is an ideal travel destinaiton in Guilin. Name:Elephant Trunk Hill Visiting Reply

Hi, my hotel is just located in Guilin city centre. So I’m wondering if I can take a bus to some spots, like the Elephant Trunk Hill. Are there any bus has a stop at Elephant Trunk Hill? How much will that be and will I notice where I need to get off obviously? Thanks.

I think by taxi is easier to get to the Elephant Trunk Hill, by the bus takes a long time to get there and back to the city. If you stay in the center of the city, and like walking, you can also walk to the Elephant Trunk Hill.
