Longsheng, located in the area that joins the Heping River and the Sang Rivers, is a small mutlti-ethnic autonomous county in Guilin. The county stretches at most 78 kilometers from south to north and 60 kilometers from east to west covering an area of 2,538 square kilometers. It is situated 88 kilometers to the northwest of Guilin and surrounded on all directions by mountains. In Longsheng County, there are mainly four minorities including Miao, Yao, Dong and Zhuang. The total population is 167,000 people, including 128,800 minorities making up of almost 77 percent of the whole population.

There you can experience the genuine and authentic of minority culture and the harmony among different ethnics. Longsheng is not only famous for its multi-ethnic groups but also for the stunning natural beauties. The Longsheng area is mountainous and hilly and the weather there is suitable to travel all around the year. The Yinshui Dong Village, a famous minority village, is named after the waterfall, which runs from the mountaintop like a silver chain. However, the town is definitely not the main attraction of Longsheng. Other famous travel sites around Longsheng include the Hot Spring

National Park and the Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces. The Dragon's Backbone consists of over 60 square kilometers of terraced rice fields built in the Yuan Dynasty, but only completed in the Qing Dynasty by the Zhuang people. The rice fields are built on a mountain slope, with the highest elevation at 885 meters and the lowest at 380 meters. The spiral of fields up the mountain resembles a snail when viewed from afar. The Rice Terrace is the greatest travel destination of the Longsheng County.

Hi, I'll travel in Guilin and want to visit Longsheng and Longji Village. Anyone knows if one day is enough to visit Longji terraces? How can I get to Longsheng? Will that be a lot walks there?

One day is enough to visit Longshen. It is about 2.5-3 hours’ drive from Guilin to Longsheng. Longji Village is a part of Longsheng county. You have to walk from bottom of the mountain to the top to enjoy the terrace, which will take you around one hour.
